John Frauens, MD, is a fellow and member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. Between 1984 and 2010, he worked as an orthopaedic surgeon for the Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in Honolulu, Hawaii. For the last three years, he has served as an orthopedic consultant within the State of Hawaii Department of Public Safety’s division of correction. In this role, Dr. John Frauens has provided orthopaedic services and direct patient care to incarcerated individuals.
John Frauens, MD, graduated cum laude from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy. After achieving his medical degree at Temple’s School of Medicine, he entered the University of Virginia Orthopaedic Residency Program in Charlottesville on an orthopaedic rehabilitation fellowship. During his residency at the University of Virginia, he also became a fellow and research consultant within the program’s adult reconstructive surgery division with an emphasis on artificial joints.
